SCIENCE QUARTERLY
- Vols. 12-48 (1931/32-1967/68) published as SOUTHWESTERN SOCIAL SCIENCE
QUARTERLY.

- Although SOCIAL SCIENCE QUARTERLY is the official publication of the Southwestern Social Science Association, this journal stretches well beyond the organization's geographical boundaries. Both editors and contributors are drawn from the full spectrum of U.S. colleges and universities. The journal is aimed at multi-disciplinary and public-policy issues and includes both theoretical approaches and quantitative research. Each issue begins with a section of eight to ten general interest articles ranging from environmental justice to causes of suicide in the United States, and from racial and ethnic differences in job-search strategies to the impact of teaching on retention. Another regular section, "Research Notes," includes shorter articles on topics such as partisan bias in the media, baseball hall of fame voting, and conservative Protestant opposition to lotteries. Special sections appear occasionally on themes such as the environment, talk radio, groups and politics, and immigration and refugees (Katz).
