Complete set $ 600.-   Single volumes may be available. Please inquire.

- When the late Heinrich Zeitlinger began to compile BIBLIOTHECA CHEMICO-MATHEMATICA in 1906, the collection of early scientific books and indeed the study of the history of science were not far beyond their infancy. Publication of this catalogue was a pioneer effort. It lists 54,441 items and practically every one of them is provided with bibliographical and historical notes. The original catalogue with its large supplement is arranged alphabetically by authors' names with a detailed subject index at the end. In all the subsequent supplements the books are arranged by subject. This catalogue is still vital today as an unequalled guide to the original sources.

- FOSSILS AND STRATA is an international series of monographs and memoirs in paleontology and stratigraphy, published through cooperation among the Scandinavian countries. This journal forms part of the same structured publishing program as the journals Lethaia and Boreas. These two journals are fully international and accept papers in their respective sectors of science without national preferences. Fossils and Strata, however, contains more-comprehensive systematic and regional monographs emanating primarily from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Germany. Contributions from other countries may be included. Although articles in German and French may be accepted, the use of English is strongly preferred. In spite of the regional scope and composition of the editorial staff, this journal provides a nucleus of research results that is of general interest in international paleontology and stratigraphy (Katz).

- Parliament forbade the reporting of its debates until 1771, when it yielded to protests by London newspaper publishers. In 1803 William Cobbett began publishing the PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES, until, in 1812, he sold his interest to his printer, T.C. Hansard. Throughout the nineteenth century, HANSARD'S PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES were neither verbatim nor official, but rather a collection of newspaper and other reports, embodying corrections by the speakers. The DEBATES are essential to a complete understanding of nineteenth-century Britain.

- Letters patent, so called from being issued "open", with the Great Seal pendent, announced royal acts of the most diverse kinds, including grants and leases of land, appointments to offices, licenses and pardons, and presentations to ecclesiastical benefices. From 1516 the sort of royal grant which had hitherto been made by charter took the form of letters patent.

- Writs and orders under the Great Seal addressed by the Sovereign to individuals were folded or closed up and, therefore, known as "letters close". Until Tudor times the CLOSE ROLLS contain royal instructions for the performance of various acts, including the observance of treaties, the levying of subsides, and the repair of buildings. Private deeds enrolled for safe custody on the back of the Close Rolls were especially numerous from 1382, and from 1532 such deeds form the entire content of the Roll.
