| Per volume $ 80.- |
- Vols. 1-8 (1968-1976/77) published as YALE - THEATRE - THEATER is the publication of the venerable, sometimes controversial, but always interesting Yale School of Drama. Theater's articles very much reflect the social politics of contemporary theater thinkers, artistic directors, and writers. The political perspective is both fascinating and controversial. Each issue contains four to six articles, usually organized around a theme. The editors try to include at least one new "pathbreaking" new play per issue, and some issues contain several. The articles are often illustrated with what are sometimes breathtaking production photographs. Theater is an invaluable part of any serious academic theater journal collection (Katz). |

- Formerly published as EDUCATIONAL THEATRE JOURNAL - THEATRE JOURNAL is predominantly an academic journal, but the breadth of its articles and reviews would make it a staple in any public library collection addressing the needs of serious theatergoers/students. Each issue contains approximately six articles, a performance review section, and book reviews. The articles are substantial and refereed. They may cover topics from a social or historical point of view, or they may analyze text. Occasionally, the articles will be organized around a central theme. The performance review section contains analytical reviews of, for the most part, American theater productions. Regional theaters and repertory company productions are well covered (Katz). |

| Complete set $ 1,020.- |
| Per volume $ 60.- |
- This relatively new journal is published by the Johns Hopkins University Press "in cooperation with the Association for Theatre in Higher Education." It contains about six articles in the areas of dramaturgy, performance, and theater pedagogy. THEATRE TOPICS is directed more at the theater practitioner than the Johns Hopkins Theatre Journal. As a result, its articles are more practical and less historical and analytic in nature. The style and content are rigorous, however, and articles often contain references to further readings and resources. In all, it is an impressive publication. It would be useful in particular to university and collegiate drama teachers, directors, and students and more generally, to thoughtful theatrical personnel everywhere (Katz). |
