- The BULLETIN DE LA SOCIETE DES ETUDES INDOCHINOISES publishes scholarly studies and accounts of the society's activities. The early years reflect the society's interest in the industrial and agricultural development of French Indo-China. In the early 1900s the scope was considerably enlarged, with more emphasis on the history and culture of the area. By the 1920's articles on all aspects of Indo-China were included.

- Since 1890, this distinguished international journal has published articles in English, French and German on traditional Chinese civilization, with emphasis on literature, the arts, and history. The humanities are strongly represented while articles on science, political science, and anthropology are less often published. A book review section and literature reviews are invaluable to scholars of Sinology. T'OUNG PAO is indexed in tools readily available in the United States, and it deserves a place in American libraries for its global perspective (Katz).
