- Published for the American Society of Human Genetics, AMERICAN JOURNAL OF HUMAN GENETICS is "a record of research and review relating to heredity in humans to the applications of genetic principles in medicine, psychology, anthropology, and social services and to areas of molecular and cell biology relevant to human genetics." Each issue includes 21 to 26 research papers in topics such as behavioral, biochemical, or clinical genetics immunogenetics genetic counseling or epidemiology. Many of them discuss genetic aspects of medical conditions or diseases. These are accompanied by one or more "Invited Editorials" several "Focussed Reviews" and a number of letters to the editor, many of which are brief research reports (Katz).
