- The LION AND THE UNICORN is a theme- and genre-centered journal that offers critical analyses of children's literature. The dozen articles range from "Sendak into Opera" to "Thirteen Ways of Thumbing Your Nose at Children's Literature." The articles take a scholarly approach and are contributed by a diverse array of professionals involved with children and children's literature. These include authors, illustrators, editors, librarians, and university faculty (Katz).
