- This long-standing and well-respected organ of the Modern Language Association of America (MLA) publishes scholarly and critical articles on modern literatures (its emphasis) and languages. PMLA is open to a diverse range of topics and to all scholarly methods and theoretical perspectives. Many of the articles deal with the interrelationship between culture and literature. The journal accepts submissions only from MLA members. The September issue is the annual membership directory, and the November issue contains the program for the upcoming annual conference. The journal does not publish book reviews. This is a core literature journal (Katz).
