- The title of this publication of the Society for Medieval Archaeology is actually incomplete, because both the society and the journal deal only with British and Irish history "since the Roman period." No terminal date is given, although 1500 is a reasonable guess. The single annual issue of MEDIEVAL ARCHAEOLOGY contains four or five feature articles that sometimes go on for forty pages, discussing such matters as migration patterns and salt mining or reporting on excavations. There are five to ten shorter notes, news pieces, and many book reviews (Katz).
