- MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND EVOLUTION is "devoted to the interdisciplinary science between molecular biology and evolutionary biology." Most of the 12 to 15 papers are experimental rather than theoretical and they report the results of studies focusing on such topics as evolutionary processes at the molecular level, phylogenetic relationships of genes and proteins, mechanisms of mutational change or natural selection and phylogenetic relationships of genes and proteins. Several short communications, published as "Letters to the Editor," appear in most issues (Katz).
