- Issued by the Nordic Ecological Society Oikos. Authorship of OIKOS continues to be international, as is the focus of the research reported. Most issues include 12 to 20 or more papers describing research on a wide range of subjects involving both animals and plants, e.g. butterfly population dynamics, effects of moose on taiga, responses of birds to prey and plant community structure. Some issues include a minireview, generally focusing on areas advancing rapidly. The "Opinion" section of each issue includes comments about previously published articles or discussion of important issues in the field and the "Forum" is intended for new ideas and those "challenging current thinking." Proceedings from relevant seminars may also be published. Oikos is well regarded and an excellent choice for an international ecology journal (Katz).
