- The Ontario Historical Society, which publishes ONTARIO HISTORY, is a nonprofit educational organization and registered charity whose aim is to promote and preserve Ontario's history for everyone. It recently celebrated its centennial with a guest editor (Syd Wise) and a special issue tracing its history from its founding in 1898 as the Pioneer and Historical Association of Ontario, to its present form. The journal's layout is impressive. Articles may include strictly historical topics such as the problem of pacifism in Early Upper Canada or more current subjects such as the Ontario economy or the status of the province's women (Katz).
