- Scholarly articles on primarily English and American literature of all time periods are published in TEXAS STUDIES IN LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE, with a specific focus on literary criticism and history. Each issue has a theme, e.g., "Nature, Law, and Representation," "Richard Rodriguez: Public Intellectual," and "Metaphors and Maternal Sources." There are, as well, special-topic issues, such as "T. S. Eliot" (39:4). Some recent articles discuss Gary Snyder's poetry, Walden Two and postmodern utopia, and Kipling's Jungle Book. The journal does not publish book reviews, but there is an occasional review article (Katz).
