- It was the aim of APOLLON to be for music what ATHENAEUM was for poetry and PROPYLAEEN was for the visual arts, and the journal did, in fact, contain a wealth of sheet music, music reviews, and essays. More interesting, however, are the contributions on the theory of art, reflecting the process by which early romantic ideas were assimilated.
