- Gutzkow started his journalistic career with this ambitious and critical survey of the German press. His introduction is one of the first to present the reader with precise notions of the "Young Germany" movement and what it stood for. Although the journal was published in a very limited edition (seventy subscribers), it helped Gutzkow to become editor of the well-known LITERATURBLATT.
