- Gutzkow started his journalistic career with this ambitious and critical survey of the German press. His introduction to FORUM DER JOURNAL-LITERATUR is one of the first to present the reader with precise notions of the "Young Germany" movement and what it stood for. Although the journal was published in a very limited edition (seventy subscribers), it helped Gutzkow to become editor of the well-known LITERATURBLATT.
