- In honor of the thirty-first International Congress of Americanists, Herbert Baldus compiled a critical bibliography on Brazilian ethnology. The 1.785 titles listed therein include all important works published from the discovery of Brazil to 1953. A short description of each title is given in the language of the work and critical comments follow in Portuguese. In 1968 Baldus published a second volume, listing over one thousand works published between 1953 and 1968. It encompasses not only works on Brazilian ethnology but also works concerned with Brazilian linguistics, archaeology and physical anthropology. Both volumes are organized alphabetically by author, and have subject, tribal and author indexes.
