- BRENNER is a celebrated journal which presented a large slice of German intellectual life, and which sought to combine the best of the literary, philosophical and religious expression of its time. DER BRENNER was the life work of Ludwig von Ficker, whose spirit of editorial hospitality attracted contributors such as Karl Kraus, Georg Trakl, Carl Dallago, Theodor Haecker, Paula Schliers and Hildegaard Jones. The editor's special concern was to recognize the religious and philosophical overtones of literary creation and to judge them in light of Kierkegaard's philosophy. |
