- Mathematician at the Court of King Rudolph II of Bohemia, in Prague, TYCHO BRAHE is best known for his astronomical observations, using an enormous quadrant, and for his discovery of the "Al Aaraaf" nova in 1572, which was vi- sible for some sixteen months. It was Tycho who invited Johannes Kepler to Pra- gue in 1600. Much of the time they had together before Tycho's death in 1601 was spent fine-tuning the Copernican model of the universe using elliptical orbits. |
