- BISHOP MUSEUM publications have long been regarded by the scientific world as authoritative works dealing with the history of man and his environment in the Pacific basin. The BULLETIN was initiated in 1922 as the vehicle for publication of research papers summarizing the Museum's Pacific-wide expeditions and field operations. Materials relate not only to Hawaii and Polynesia, but also to Melanesia and Micronesia. About one-third of the topics are in the field of ethnology, general archaeology, folklore, language, music and religion. The other two-thirds include botany, entomology, geology, geography, malacology and zoology. Annual reports of the Director are included in the Bulletin series for the years 1922-1952.
