- JOURNAL OF PHONETICS aims to promote linguistics study by publishing papers that deal with the role of phonetics in language, from both theoretical or experimental points of view. Papers may deal with "technological and/or pathological topics or papers of an interdisciplinary nature . . . provided that linguistic-phonetic principles underlie the work reported." Articles are very specialized and deal with topics such as acoustics, bilingualism, glottalization, phonology, physiology, psycholinguistics, and voice quality (Katz).
