- JOURNAL OF HEALTH CARE FOR THE POOR AND UNDERSERVED focuses exclusively on issues of health care delivery for poor and medically underserved populations and the health, social and financial costs of poverty, primarily in the United States. This is a scholarly journal, with authors coming primarily from an academic medical-center background. The format is attractive, and tables and charts are well presented. The journal publishes original research, guest editorials, brief communications and reviews. Recent articles discuss access to treatment for depression in Medicaid populations, leading causes of death among African Americans, and health status and access to care among rural minorities (Katz).
