- The emphasis of THESIS ELEVEN is social theory, incorporating both social sciences and liberal arts disciplines from sociology and politics to philosophy, cultural studies, and literature. "The Journal is international and interdisciplinary with a central focus on theories of society, culture, and politics, and the understanding of modernity." Issues focus on such themes as East Asia musical philosophy globalization modernity and marginalization and politics and economy. A small number of research articles make up each issue, along with occasional review essays and a book review section. The "Notes and Discussions" section features shorter essays or responses to previous articles (Katz).
