- ZEITSCHRIFT FUER SLAWISTIK was founded in 1956 as a specialist instrument for German and international Slavonic research, publishing studies on languages and their literatures, the popular poetry of the Slav peoples and their cultural history, both present and past. Special attention is devoted to German-Slav interrelations in linguistic, literary and cultural terms, within the European context; other focal points are onomatological research, Baltic and Sorbian studies, and the history of Slavonic studies. Conference reports provide information about important academic conferences. Reviews offer an insight into current trends and developments in international Slavonic research.
